Mechanical Trades Carolinas is the premier welding/piping and HVAC Apprenticeship Training Center in the Carolinas. Training young men and women for careers in the Commercial and Industrial Construction fields throughout the Carolinas and across the Country since the 1950’s. Our Graduates and current Apprentices are currently employed in the following sectors: Pharmaceutical-Hi Purity, Nuclear, Powerhouse, Oil refinery, Paper Mill, Commercial Hi-Rise, Hospital-Medical sectors, Data Center & Critical systems Facilities Industries For the top Contractors in the Country.
MTC/LU 421 is a State and DOL registered 5 year Apprenticeship Program. Our Apprentices attend part-time evening classes during the week at one of our three Training Centers located throughout the Carolinas (Charlotte, Raleigh and Charleston) and work full time, while receiving “paid on the job training” under the direction of one or more of our highly skilled Craft Specific Journeypersons.
Our Apprentices receive the following: paid on the job training, competitive salary with yearly raises, full medical benefits for themselves and family, pension, Annuity and College Credits upon successful completion of our Program from Washtenaw Community College with “Zero” Loans to repay!

Apprentice Screening/Application Policy
All new apprentice applications will ONLY be taken after meeting the following requirements:
- Copy of a Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License
- Must be current resident of North Carolina or South Carolina
- Copy of Social Security Card
- Copy of a Valid Birth Certificate
- Copy of High School Diploma or GED
- Career Readiness Certificate Test Results with Silver or Higher.

Tutoring is available through the following centers:- Rowan Cabarrus Community College – (704) 216-3545
- Wake Tech Community College – (919) 532-5697
- Find your own test center
- Members coming in from the Military should provide their DD214
- Anyone transferring from a Community College program may be exempt from the CRC test
- Dependable transportation is required
Application Deadline
Please note that the deadline for September 2021 enrollment is May 15th, 2021. You must complete and submit the Apprentice Application and all additional documents before that date, or you will have to wait for the following term.
